Three decades fishing the same water.

Capt. Shannon LaBauve has been licensed by the U.S. Coast Guard since 1995. Born in Lake Charles, Louisiana into a fishing family. Three decades guiding the Galveston Bay complex, the jetties, the near-shore beach front, and the offshore rigs.

That kind of run gives you a different relationship with the water. Tide windows, structure, what is biting in May vs. October, where the bait moved overnight after a north wind. It is why more than a thousand parties took the time to leave a five-star review, and why most of them book the next trip before they get off the boat.

What is biting in Galveston.

Galveston runs the full bill: jetty-line speckled trout to bluewater wahoo and yellowfin. Here is the short list of what fills the cooler, or the camera roll.

Also booking trips for amberjack, ling (cobia), grouper, black-fin tuna, sailfish, sharks, flounder, and swordfish. If it swims off Galveston, the captain has a plan for it.

Captain Shannon was fantastic to fish with. He is truly a master at his craft. Not only did he put us on some great fish, he was genuine and kind. His first mate Blake was also a great deck hand. I highly recommend Captain Shannon.

This was my family’s first fishing charter and it was absolutely awesome. Captain Shannon was welcoming, personable, patient, and excellent with instructions, which led to catch after catch for our entire group.

Five minutes after we stopped at the jetty we started catching fish every two or three minutes. Never went ten minutes without catching fish. We brought 17 keepers back to the dock. We will definitely use Galveston Offshore again.

He knew where to go and kept us on fish the whole trip. When the bite slowed, he moved us and it paid off. Gear was solid the whole time. We landed some good fish and had fun doing it. I’d go back out with him again for sure.

Captain Shannon truly made the trip. Our group caught lots of red snapper and he made sure on almost every catch that we could catch bigger. He was right.

We had an amazing time. The captain knew exactly how to keep things exciting and put us on the big ones all day long. You could really tell the experience and passion were there from start to finish.

Captain Shannon was great company and I’m glad we chose his services. We were on fish within minutes of arriving at our first stop. Twenty-three fish in all. Very knowledgeable and respected captain.

Caught my limit on trout. Lots of experience and knowledge and an overall joy to fish with. If you are ever in the Galveston area, hit up Captain Shannon. I will definitely be booking a future trip.

He knew exactly where to go and made sure we were on the best spots all day long. What really stood out was how great he was with our kids. Patient, engaging, and made the whole experience fun for everyone.

Shannon was great with our seven-year-old. He got fish on the line and knew the hot spots. He cleaned our fish, speckled trout and black drum, and had them cooked down the road. We will go back for flounder in December.

The trip was way more than I thought it could be. He kept moving us around and we kept catching fish. Fifteen fish in all, then the captain cleaned them and told us where to get them cooked. I’m ready to do it again.

Captain was great and had us on fish at every spot. We caught four sharks before ending the trip a little early because my son got seasick. Even with the shortened trip we had a great time, and my boys are already ready for another.

We last-minute decided to take a trip with my in-laws. We were competing with rough water and crazy tides, and Shannon stuck it out with us. You won’t regret using Captain Shannon.

We had a fantastic time fishing with Captain Shannon. Polite, respectful, and on time. A quick trip out to the jetty and we were pulling in sheepshead while the sun was coming up behind us.

Wife and I had a blast with Shannon. This dude was on it. Already given his info to a few folks. Will book again for sure.

Three things to know before you book.

Clarity upfront means a calm trip. Here is how Galveston Offshore engagements are scoped.

Direct Booking

Call or email Capt. Shannon directly. No platform commission, no third-party processing fee. Same boat, same captain, lower price.

Weather Reschedule

If the captain calls the trip for weather, your deposit moves to the next available date at no charge. The Gulf decides; nobody loses money to it.

What to Bring

Texas saltwater fishing license, food, drinks, sunscreen, polarized sunglasses. The captain provides all tackle, bait, ice, and the rest.

The fish I am proudest of are the ones the kid on the bow caught after we had been out four hours and it was getting hot. That is the trip they tell their friends about.

Capt. Shannon LaBauve USCG-licensed since 1995

Licensed since 1995. Booking through 2026.

Owner & Operator

Three decades on the Gulf, started in a Lake Charles fishing family, never picked up a different line of work. The 31 ft Oceanmaster has been the office since the day it was bought; the 2023 refit was about making sure it stays that way for a while longer.

If you book a trip with Galveston Offshore, you are fishing with the captain whose name is on the license, the boat, and the reviews. No mate-running-the-show, no boss-on-the-phone, no surprise crew change. Same captain, same boat, same standards every trip.
